Heavenly Sushi You Won't Ever Forget
We never expected this restaurant to turn us into regulars, but it was absolutely worth it. Initially, we encountered a long queue that almost discouraged us from staying. After waiting 15-20 minutes, the staff finally called us in. The moment we stepped inside, we were enveloped by the warm ambiance, you could feel the chefs' passion and see diners genuinely enjoying their meals.
We were seated upstairs on the second level, where Japanese newspapers covered the walls. Upon closer inspection, we discovered an article featuring the restaurant's owner, Slamet Basuki, who had won a sushi-making competition in Japan. We ordered a variety of sushi and traditional Japanese dishes. The salmon sashimi particularly caught our attention with its generous portion, so large that Deani couldn't finish a slice in one bite (though she might have had her own reasons for not attempting it). She preferred the grilled scallop and chuka idako (baby squid in red sauce).
Someone suggested ordering udon, though I can't remember who, and we couldn't finish it due to the enormous serving size. Just when we thought we were too full to move, the waiter surprised us with a complimentary grilled salmon head, such wonderful hospitality. Between the exceptional food, inviting ambiance, outstanding service, friendly staff, and great value, we can't help but plan our return to Umaku soon.
